Bochenski Leaves ECDC for Private Sector Sheridan in as new ED By Peter Herr

The Erie County Democratic Committee announced today that Executive Director Melissa Bochenski will be leaving her position for a private sector job in government affairs. Bochenski worked for the committee from 2009-2011 before she went on to work as an Executive Assistant for then Congresswoman Kathy Hochul. Bochenski returned to the ECDC in January of this year to take on her role as Executive Director.

A graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lancaster and Canisius College, Bochenski is a life-long Western New Yorker. She grew up in Orchard Park and has worked in politics and with the Erie County Democrats since her college days. She leaves the ECDC to take a job in the financial sector to work in government affairs with a focus on financial policy.

Jeremy Zellner, Chairman of the ECDC said, "Melissa has been a huge asset to the Democratic Committee over the years and we were lucky to have her. This is a wonderful opportunity for her and we are happy to see her join the ranks of the many from the ECDC family who now work in the nonprofit and private sectors in Western New York."

Zellner, in keeping with his strategy of hiring people who have strong experience, also announced that at the end of the month, Jeffrey Sheridan will take on the role of Executive Director. Sheridan has Congressional experience, having run Congresswoman Louise Slaughter's Buffalo Office and then serving as former Congresswoman Kathy Hochul's District Director, managing two separate offices with a staff of ten.
